The CHC is a Membership Facility for Homeschoolers, by Homeschoolers.
Members can use the facility for any purpose during its hours of operation. We have a manager that is present during all operating hours.
We are open Wednesdays through Fridays from 10am-3pm.
Opening day for Spring 2015 is Wednesday, January 7th.
Organizations and groups that make use of the CHC: Classical Conversations, Aggieland Homeschool Sports, BVCHEA, Triumph, HSIZ, Multiple Co-Ops, American Heritage Girls, Trail Life, Body & Soul Workouts, Private Classes, Mom Support Groups, Prayer Meetings, eClub (Entrepreneur Club), and more!
The 2015-2016 Board:
Community Liaison & Facility Chair: Lee Postma
The “go-between” who relays information from the Church facility, sports groups, co-ops, One Day Academy, Choir, and other organizations, allowing the CHC to continue to foster unity and helpfulness at every level. Monthly, she reaches out to check on how we are best serving these groups.
Chaplain & Support Group Chair: Leslie Hicks
Brings together the homeschooling resources by listing and compiling activities and groups available to the community. She under girds the spiritual & emotional health of the board, the CHC & the community at large. She hosts mom’s night out, support group meetings, helps decide on seminar needs at the Expo, and the monthly First Fridays, as she has her finger on the pulse of the vision of the CHC, and those whom we serve.
Special Events & Finances Chair: Jennie Smith
In addition to watching and reporting the budgets, the checking account, facility insurance and manager payouts, she is the visionary for First Fridays, Lego Club, the Annual Homeschool Expo, Christmas Shop, etc. All organization and delegation begins with this chairperson. Website set up and link maintenance is an additional, less regular task.
Teacher Liaison & Scheduling Chair: Lisa Lanning
This person has the gift of administration! Relay to new teachers basic set up information and encouragement, schedule the calendar and classrooms, updates on membership forms, room rent, and various spreadsheets and charts for the CHC general functionality.
Communications & Public Relations Chair: Suzanne Gose
Sets agendas and meeting times for the board, updates social media with news of operating hours, event descriptions. Trains teachers on marketing tactics, and emails the various loops with homeschooling opportunities. Instructs at the Homeschooling 101 seminars. Fields phone calls, text, and emails from the brand new and potential homeschoolers to veteran homeschoolers. A “patch through” for the other chairs to hear the needs of the community.
Our mission is to reach out and connect homeschooler to homeschooler. There is a wealth of opportunity in our area to enrich our homeschooling lives and we do our best to gather those opportunities and make them available to you.
Over the last few years there has been a dramatic influx of new homeschoolers & they are searching for guidance & direction. We were all once new to this, and would love the opportunity to help in any way we can. We definitely don’t have all the answers, but we will help you find them!
All members have access to:
1) A local gathering place for all homeschoolers (that is convenient to all sorts of shops!)
2) Study areas for individual or group study
3) Nursery/Social area for moms & younger siblings
4) Coffee, easy, low cost snacks, a place to eat lunch, or take a break during errands and classes
5) FREE First Friday events: Lego Club, Chess/Games, Seminars & free Curriculum Swap.
6) FREE classes on Wednesdays at 10am (eClub, Latin, and Bible memory)
7) Opportunity to sell your homemade goods, books, or products, for only $5/table a day
8) Safe, healthy, hangout location for homeschoolers ages 12 and up (without adult)
Family Membership is only $50/year (+$10/each enrolled student)
Individual Student Membership is $30/year.

Class Sign Up:
To sign up for classes, contact each teacher. You can find class & teacher information on the Classes page. We are only a facility & the teachers rent the space, we do not employ them. Each class has separate fees and tuition guidelines. Once you join the CHC Yahoo Group E-loop, you can usually find the info with a quick post search.
The CHC offers classroom space to anyone who would like to conduct a class for the low cost of $5/hour for smaler spaces, and $8/hour for the larger classroom areas in the back. (Not for profit classes do not pay classroom rent.)

At the CHC, we enjoy many member benefits, but most importantly are the intangibles.
You know them… for instance, a valuable friendship, or a place to belong. We make the community we are in. This is why we have a free Curriculum Swap for items that members are no longer using that they would like to pass on, and why we are passionate about providing a place for a frazzled mom to stop in & rest in the midst of a crazy day & get a tasty cup of coffee & a listening ear. By nature, homeschoolers are hard-workers, non-conformists & truly brave. It’s so important to support one another. There are many ‘benefits’ to being part of a community that maybe don’t look like much on paper, but sometimes they make all the difference in someone continuing to homeschool.
These are our favorite ‘benefits’.
In addition, we are always in the process of evolving to enrich our members lives & experience, so please, we welcome feedback about how we can do just that.
